FINDING ALICE
BY: CATHERINE GUARINI

Chapter Five

As everyone got their stuff from the conveyer belt, they then got into Tomax’s car, that he had left at the airport. Before he and Xamot went to Extensive Enterprises, and drove off for the Foster home.

On a road to the Foster House… Who are…” Tomax said.

    “…you…” Xamot said.

“…really?” Tomax and Xamot say together talking to Flint.

Flint said, “Ask Bobby, he now understand who I am and what I have become? Living in the normal world for over twenty years since leaving Cobra at the age of 14.  No mother to care for me, no father to father me for adult advice.  It was hard, but I learned to survive all by myself!”

Lady Jaye says in a sad voice, “I know how it feels, not to have a father.  My mother, divorced my dad when I was very young.  I don’t even remember what he looks like, or anything of my past since fourth grade.  All I see in my past are two young boys that I used to play with somewhere, by a lake, but the funny thing is, there is no lake where my mom lives near.  And an adult of some sort, hitting me in a classroom, with a ruler, in one of the schools that I attended.”

“What do you mean?” Flint asks.  “Someone used to hit you.  Do you know who it was?  Did you tell someone at the time that it happened?”

Lady Jaye says, “I don’t remember it was a long time ago.  I think I was either in first or second grade when it happened.”

Bobby says, “I remember sitting in a classroom, one day, with my twin brother David, and a girl I believe her name was Alice.  My first grade teacher Ms. Baron, that was what I called her when I first met her, now call her by her real name the Baroness. Came to a friend of mine at the time and hit her numerous times in different places with a ruler.  Do you think you could be that girl, do you think that you could be a cobra like me?”

Lady Jaye says, “I don’t know.  I just don’t know who I am or where I belong.  I just wish I could remember, but I can’t!”

Just then, a gentleman, with a patch over one eye, is walking near Tomax’s car that is stopped by a light.  The gentleman sees Tomax, Xamot, Bobby and two other people in the car.  He walks up to the car and looks inside it as they are stopped at a traffic light.

He says as to himself, as he looks at the young lady in the car.  Lady Jaye looks just like her mom did back then.  Bonnie?  It can’t be.  But she looks just like her.  I have to stop and ask who she is?

Major Bludd says, through the window of the car, “Excuse me miss, but you look just like my ex-wife, Bonnie, that left me 30 years ago, but you can’t be her can you, could you?”

Lady Jaye looks at the stranger and says, “My mom’s name is Bonnie, but I’m sorry to say that I can’t say where she is right now.  I haven’t seen her in about two years.  I was going to the last address that she lived at when I boarded the plane that lead me here instead.”

He looks at her again and looks at resemblance between his ex-wife and this beautiful lady standing before him.  He has to find out her name.  “Can I at least ask you your name?”

Lady Jaye says her name, “Alice Heart Bernette.”  Tomax then drives off as the traffic light changes from red to green.

Major Bludd is stunned, he has found is long lost daughter that his wife has taken from him so long ago.  I will not let her take you from me again my daughter. He says to himself.

Flint decides now is the time to strike G I Joe, he takes out the remote detonator, from his briefcase, and starts pressing all kinds of buttons on the remote.

Bobby asks, “What’s that you have there?”

Flint says with a disgusting taste developing in his mouth, “The destruction of G I Joe!”

    Tomax says, “What do…”

    Xamot says, “…you mean…”

Tomax and Xamot together say, “…the destruction of G I Joe?”

Flint says, “Watch the news and find out.”

    G I Joe Pitt

Shipwreck is walking near one of the Skystrikers, when he hears a loud boom from behind him.  He turns around and notices that several Skystrikers he just walked past just blew up.  He then notices that several other vehicles that also exploded behind him.  He decides to go to Duke’s and lets him know what just happened.

When he gets to Duke’s office, he knocks on the door. Duke is in his office doing some paper work and hears a knock on the door.

Duke says, “Who is it?  I am very busy, right now.  If it’s not important, then go away!”

Shipwreck says, as he opens the door, peeking his head out through the door. “Sir, it’s me, Shipwreck.  I have some thing to tell you.”

Duke stops what he is doing, and says, “It had better be,” putting an emphsis on the word really. “really important, Shipwreck?”

Shipwreck says, “It is believe me, it is really important.  I have to talk to you, sir.”

Duke waves him to come in and says,  “Have a seat. Well, what is it sailor?”

Shipwreck comes in and sits down on a chair in the office.  And he says, “I walking outside, near some Skystrikers, when all of a sudden from out of nowhere there came a…” From outside they hear a loud boom, and Shipwreck doesn’t get to finish his sentence.

A series of bombs inside the male barracks goes off.  Duke and Shipwreck leave his office, to find out what’s going on.

He heads toward the male barracks to find that the building is totally demolished.

Duke says, “Does anyone know if anyone was in there?”

Breaker says, “No one, that I know of was in the male barracks, sir.”

Duke says, “Check the perimeter for Cobra agents.  It has to be Cobra!”

Breaker says, “Already checked that, sir.  No cobra agents in the vicinity.”

Duke returns to his office, and says in a sad voice, into the G I Joe intercom in his office, “Attention Joes, until we find out what has happened here.  I’m afraid that I have no choice, but to disband G I Joe and abandon the Pitt.  Since there is nothing left of the male barracks, the men that lost all of their belonging will be given government checks to pay for their stuff that was destroyed in the male barracks, and can leave.  The lady’s can go into the female barracks and retrieve their things and leave.  Until you hear from me again.  The G I Joe team is disbanded!  Yo Joe!  Duke out.”

A couple of hours later In Cobraville

The Baroness is watching tv in her apartment.  When all of a sudden the show that she is watching changes to a News broadcast.  The Baroness wines, “My Show…”

An announcer on the tv says, “We interrupt your regularly scheduled program to bring to you this important news bulletin.  We take you live to the G I Joe headquarters the Pitt.”

Outside the Pitt

Hector Ramirez says, “Hector Ramirez, reporting to you live from the G I Joe base, the Pitt.  With us at this moment is Sergeant Duke Hauser.   Sergeant Hauser, why have you decided to disband the G I Joe team?”

Duke says, “Well, Hector, we at the Joe headquarters have been having serious problems here at the base, the base is off limits to everyone right now.  We have been having unexplainable explosions going off all over the base.  In fact, we lost the male barracks building.  The only barracks that is left right now is the female barracks.  I do not want to loose the female barracks either. As sergeant of G I Joe, I am responsible for all the men and women here and I do not want to lose any of the excellent soldiers here, so I decided to disband the G I Joe.”

Cobraville

Baroness is stunned to find out that someone, has done the impossible.  That person has crumbled, G I Joe.  She leaves her house to go see Cobra Commander.  As she is about to get into her car she sees Tomax, Xamot, Bobby and two other adults get out of the car and head toward the Foster house.

Outside The Foster House

Just as everyone gets out of the car, Flint says to himself.  Home at last.  I just hope they remember me.

Bobby spots the Baroness and asks, “Where are you headed in such a rush, Baroness?”

The Baroness says, “I’m off to see Cobra Commander.  Something very important just happened to G I Joe, and for the better of Cobra.  They have disbanded.”

Bobby can not believe what she has just said, “What?  What do you mean disband they disbanded?  This has better not be one of your practical jokes Baroness?”

Flint can see in her eyes that she saw the news broadcast, and says, “You saw the news broadcast didn’t you?”

Baroness says, “Yes, who are you?”

David says, “My name is David Fisher.  Here is my cobra drivers license, and credentials that I took with me at the time I left Cobraville.”

Bobby, Baroness, Tomax and Xamot are shocked.  Bobby is the first to speak, “Brother! I’m sorry how I acted, toward you back then.  I hope we can start a new and be the best friends as well as brothers, like Uncle Tomax and Xamot are.  Are you back to stay this time?  Did you find her?  Were you the one that destroyed G I Joe?”

“Whoa, one question at a time.  First of all, I forgave you for what happened against us.  All I wanted to do was come home and make up with you.  But I had to find the young lady that I was in love with back then.  Second of all, no so far I have not found her.  I think I was close to finding her when I was in college, but I am not sure where she is now.  She dumped me and jilted me when I asked her out so many times in college, so I just stopped asking out.  And I also hope to make up for the difference in years that we have been apart.  I even went as far as destroying the male barracks.”

“How were you able to destroy the male barracks.”

“How I destroyed G I Joe was the simplest thing that anyone could think of.  I joined G I Joe last week and found out that G I Joe was working on some very experimental microscopic bombs, so microscopic that they can’t be detected by anything not even a microscope.  So one day last week, I was explored the G I Joe Pitt. And found where they were.  So before I left for Cobraville I planted the bombs all around the base.  Including the following rooms, computer room, male barracks, female barracks, all of the G I Joe vehicles that were on the base, and everywhere else that I could think of.”

Bobby puts his hand on Flint’s shoulder he can tell that his brother is a little nervous.  “Don’t worry Dave, about mom and dad.  They are really great people.”

Bobby says, “I want to even forget about our childish bet we made back then.”

    Lady Jaye says, “What bet?”

Flint speaks, “When Bobby and I were fourteen, we made a bet that the first person to find a girl we were in first grade with.”

Lady Jaye says confused, “I’m very confused.  You two are brothers?  And you are related to these two gentlemen?”

Inside the Foster house

Bobby’s mother is busy cooking dinner.  When she hears voices coming from outside.  She looks out the window and sees Bobby, Tomax, Xamot, and two other people talking.  “Dave, come quick! You have to take a look at this.”

David Senior is busy looking at his paper.

He says, “What is it, dear, can’t you see that I am reading my paper?”

“Bobby is back and so are my brothers.  But there are two other people with them.”

He says, “What?  Let me see.”

He gets up and goes to the window.  He notices his son, and then he notices someone else.  He looks at him again and says, “It can’t be, can it?”  He looks at the other guy again.  “It is?  He’s finally returned.”

His wife says, “Who has returned?”

David Senior says, “David, he’s back.”

His wife begins to cry, “David is back?  You sure that’s him?  He’s changed so much.”

“I think Bobby knows too.  But let’s not mention it until we are sure.  What do you say we scratch this dinner that you have planned, and take the them out to dinner?”

There is a knock on the door.
