Desperado

  “Let’s go and bring them home. GV full power.”

  She woke to the smell of something cooking. Her ankle was throbbing and she felt like she was freezing even though she lay right next to the fire. She slowly opened her eyes and saw someone tending the fire.

  “Shane?” She said startled at how weak her voice sounded.

  Goose turned and she noticed how tired he looked. “I’ll have something for you to eat in a minute.” He said his voice betraying his fatigue. “Are you still cold?”

  “Yes, I feel like…” She never finished as a coughing fit racked her body. Goose quickly rushed to her side and offered her some water after the fit had passed. “How long has it been?” She asked after swallowing some of the water.”

  “About two and a half days since we crashed. Your fever still hasn’t broke yet and it sounds like your getting a respiratory infection on top of it.”

  “Shane, what if no one……”

  “We just have to hope the signal got through before we lost power.” He went back to the fire and filled her water cup with a hot liquid. “Here, it’s not much but it’s warm and has some vitamins and minerals in it.” He said as he held the cup up for her to drink.

  She felt the warmth spread through her freezing body and suddenly felt the weariness start to overcome her again. She lay back down on the hard ground and suddenly felt herself being lifted and placed onto a soft cushion that had a fait smell like a pine tree. She fought to keep her eyes open, but in the end sleep pulled her back into it’s grip.

  He watched her sleep, his eyes watching her for any sign of pain or discomfort. After he ate a small amount of the soup he sat down next to the bed he had made for her.

  “Were going to get out of this Niko,” He said as he brushed the hair out of her face. “There are to many things I want to tell you.” He slowly laid his head back against the tree and closed his eyes.

  He was awoken, in what seemed like minutes later, by the sound of someone calling his name. He’s senses flared into life as he recognized the voice.

  “Captain!” He yelled as he Turned in the direction of the voices and was rewarded by the sight of Bruits and Voyager galloping towards his position he turned and knelt by Niko.

  “Niko,” He said as he gently picked her up. “Niko, come on Babe, time to go home.”

  “She’s resting now Goose, why don’t you go grab some sleep.” Zach said as he pulled Goose away from the medunit on Ranger-1.

  “Thanks Cap’n, but I think I’ll just stay here.” Goose said glancing down at Niko, “She’ll wonder where I am if she wakes up.”

  “Ok, but try and get some sleep your dead on your feet.” Goose nodded as Zach left the room.

  “Well Babe, we made it, but now what am I going to do?” He said as he sat on the second bunk and closed his eyes. “What am I going to do.”

  *How can I ask her to love me? She deserves someone better then me, someone that can offer more than I can. What do I know of love, I know war, hate, fear, and anger, but love, I didn’t even know what that was till you came Niko. But I can’t ask you to love me, even if it will kill me to do it.*

She’ll beat you if she’s able
You know the Queen of Hearts is always your best bet
Now it seems to me some fine things have been laid upon your table
But you only want the ones that you can’t get...

  *Queen, yes Niko, you’re my Queen. I would do anything for you. You already own my heart and soul. I would give my life for you without thinking. I would love you till the end of time. But I can’t let you know that I do. God Niko I want to wake up with you in my arms, I want you beside me at night when I close my eyes.*

Desperado, Oh, you ain’t getting no younger

  *I deserve to love don’t I? No, not you your to perfect and deserve better, someone that can give back the love, me my destiny is to be alone. But I deserve to be happy, don’t I? God Niko, I want to tell you.*

The sky won’t snow and the sun won’t shine
It’s hard to tell nighttime from the day
You’re loosing all your highs and lows
Ain’t it funny how the feeling goes away...

   *The feeling will never go away. I’ll love you till the end of time. My heart would grow cold, and my days would seem endless without you in my life. You give me a reason to keep fighting when I loose reason. I can’t see myself without you by my side forever.*

  *How do I tell you? How can I let you love me? God, Niko, I love you and I want you to know that. I want to scream it so load that the whole world knows, I want, No I can’t, but what if you love me too? I don’t know, please Niko, help me show me how to tell you.*
