Chapter Three:
Reaction

    As his eyes opened, pain flooded Shockwave's body as did memories. His right leg burned, bones shattered and displaced he remembered...a face loomed over him.

    "How are you feeling?' a man asked. Shockwave didn't answer as he looked at the man, searching his memory for a name to match the face and finding none.

    "You are lucky with that leg, Mr. Faria. I was able to pop the kneecap back into place and set the bones, but the leg has to be immobilized. All in all, I am sorry that you had to be captured I this manner."

    Shockwave was about to tell the man where he could put his sympathy when he saw the gun the doctor wore. reacting quickly, he snatched the SigPro from the holster and grabbed the doctor by the throat and pressed the gun to his temple.

    "Where am I?" Shockwave growled.

    "I cannot tell you that." the doctor rasped as armed guards burst into the room. The men were dressed in a uniform similar to the Iron Grenadiers, but slightly different with a different insignia.

    "Drop the gun, Faria." the lead guard warned, his weapon aimed at Shockwave's head.

    "Back off. Back the fuck off.' Shockwave snapped back as he tried to stand, using the bed for support and holding the gun on the doctor.

    "You can't escape, Faria. Our boss wished you no harm, he merely wished to speak with you."

    "Bullshit."

    "Have it your way..." the guard answered, nodding his head. A man came through a door behind Shockwave, slamming the butt of his rifle into his head. Falling to his knees, roaring in pain, Shockwave fell from the blow. The doctor quickly drew a syringe and injected Shockwave, a feeling of peace spreading through his body as he collapsed to the floor.

    "How is he?' the guard asked, looking down at Shockwave.

    "There will be no lasting damage to him."

    "Good. The boss wants him alive. He has big plans for this scum and the Hart woman..."
